The food was very average and did not exist; now it is world-class. The same goes for luxury stays. There weren’t many a decade ago. Now we have many very high-end lodges and world-class facilities. We all get wiser and travel differently when we are older. , which we enjoy life’s finer things when we reach a certain age. Not to be missed is the free-spirited young age travel so.

It’s the things that I did in Queenstown that shine brightest in my memory. Though, now that I’m older, possibly wiser and definitely more cautious I’d be more likely to spend my money on a gourmet meal rather than a bungee jump.

Seeing waterfalls, glaciers and lakes in that valley would make for a first heli-flight that I’d never forget.

When travelling during a primary season like Xmas and NY or in February, you must book a long time. Sometimes a year ahead of time if you cant be flexible. Saying that there are still opportunities to make you feel you are the only one in the universe in absolutely stunning remote locations. As a long-haul destination, we are still far away from overcrowded centres like you have in other parts of the world.

Yes, we see increased time spent in Queenstown over the last few years. It’s a great central location and a base to visit another magical area like Fiordland, Wanaka, and the wine regions.

Anyone with any budget can find something to do in Queenstown, but I have to say it’s not the cheapest district to visit in New Zealand. Having a higher budget would be a different experience, as world-class accommodations and unique experiences exist.

That’s great to hear. Yes, you can spend a good week in the area and still discover many more things to enjoy. The scenery in Central Otago is spectacular.

I can see travellers queueing up for this level of luxury in a dream location. Is booking early essential?

It would be great to return to see the other side of the town and enjoy some luxurious when I wouldn’t have such a tight budget to stick too.

He and his mates loved it so much that they were reluctant to leave and almost missed the next Test Match on their schedule.
