Essaouira is well worth a visit if you’re putting together a Moroccan itinerary. And also very good for sunshine breaks in Winter. It’s one of those places that hardly ever sees any rain.

It’s an old fishing port on the Atlantic coast designed by the French so the souks are a little lighter and more spacious. The French influence makes it very stylish. It goes without saying that it’s great for seafood too.

The riads in the medinas offer a cool respite and the larger hotels outside the medinas have pools to refresh in! There are some amazing places to stay and some even more incredible things to see.

Everything is so different, the heat, the crowds, the dust.

It’s worth persevering and showing some patience as it is such a wonderful country for colour and taste. Though, it is worth splurging that little bit extra on some luxurious accommodation to give yourself a cool sanctuary at the end of a busy but exciting day.

As you can probably tell, Morocco is one of my favourite travel destinations.

Good insight Lynne. I completely agree, we have some great personal shoppers in both Marrakech and Fez or if you prefer to explore on your own we can point you in the right direction ! Best alex

Fez is amazing and we can organise a very special tasting trail through the medina with a private foodie guide around lunchtime or dinner time.

I completely agree, so culturally different to Europe and yet so close. Welcoming locals, delicious food and incredible sites in diverse environments.

Obviously Egypt and the pyramids appeals. From what my travelling friends tell more there’s plenty to do and see in Morocco. It also appeals because I could go hiking in the Atlas Mountains.

Personally, I prefer Fez. Take 30% off the prices and the haggling is more good natured too, less aggressive than in Marrakech. Another big plus is that Fez doesn’t have mopeds roaring through the djerbs as they are too narrow.

It’s an incredible place that feels like medieval times. Those 9,500 alleyways are beyond maps and sat-nav.

You can take a good foodie walk through the medina. Don’t have breakfast at your hotel but have breakfast in the market then work through the day’s meals with stops for orange juice, sweets and of course mint tea.

The Agafay Desert is only 45 minutes from Marrakech so works well for a shorter itinerary to have some incredible glamping but also step away from light pollution and sleep under canvas.

I couldn’t agree more, Dar Ahlam in Skoura, is the perfect place to stay in this Oasis and also nicely breaks the journey to the Sahara.

you aren’t alone in that! It seems like a lot of people haven’t heard of the Agafay desert. I know everyone is fascinated with the idea of the Sahara, but sometimes it’s just not feasible to find the time in an itinerary, so Agafay give you the desert experience without having to travel too far

Hi Michael,

I really enjoyed Skoura, it seems like quite a secret and undiscovered place, and Dar Ahlam was just sensational, a real oasis within an oasis.

Visiting an oasis has always appealed to my inner traveller. Skoura would fit the bill nicely.
